African potato – 100 mg, Green tea – 50 mg, Vitamin A – 4500 IU, Vitamin C – 75 mg, Vitamin E – 20 mg, Zinc gluconate – 75 mg, Beta-carotene – 1.86 mg, Selenium – 3 mcg
African potato (Hypoxis hemerocallidea) has a long history of use by traditional healers. Recently it has attracted the interest of the biomedical and ethnobotanical community because of its unusual chemical constituents and their efficacy in the treatment of immune system disorders, including HIV and cancers.
Researchers have found that the plant sterols and sterolins, which are found in high concentrations in the African potato, increase the functioning of T-cells, which control and regulate the immune system. This increases the body’s natural resistance to disease and helps fight illnesses. Reduction in allergy symptoms has also been shown.
This high potency formulation offers the combined benefits of African potato, with the antioxidant properties of Beta-carotene vitamins A, C and E with the properties of zinc to help combat the effects of pollution.
Beta-carotene is the natural and most potent precursor of vitamin A, and is believed to protect against and be beneficial in certain types of cancer. Vitamin A is a fat soluble vitamin, which helps protect lung tissue from damage caused by oxidising chemicals in the air. Vitamin C helps prevent lead build-up in the body and helps detoxify other toxins.
Vitamin E acts as an antioxidant for the body’s lipid based membrane system. When used in combination with vitamin A it increases protection of lung tissue and protects against the effects of carbon monoxide and chlorinated pesticides. Vitamin E is needed for the protection of fatty acids and for maintaining the effectiveness of the B and C group vitamins.
